Morning commuters were caught unawares as it started raining in some parts of the capital.

"It was a pleasant surprise. It rained for some time but I wish it had poured. The summers are getting unbearable," said 19-year-old college student Vineeta.

Scores of motorcyclists were seen standing underneath trees and at bus shelters during the rain.

The maximum temperature on Friday is expected to be around 37.2 degrees Celsius, around three notches less than what was recorded Thursday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 29.7 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department was clueless, however, about the rains in Delhi.

"At the moment we have no news of rain in Delhi. But on Friday the sky will remain cloudy with little rain and thunderstorms," an official told IANS.

There was just a hint of monsoon a week ago and it was followed by days of parched weather in the Capital.
