The UP chief Minister on Sunday accused the Congress for “hushing up” the issue of “unaccounted black money” stashed up in foreign banks, which, she said, belong to one of its own senior ministers in the UPA government.
“Instead of investigating the issue, the Congress is trying to push the matter under the carpet to protect the heavyweight minister,” she said.
“One accused in the case has been sent behind bars and there’s a possibility that he might even be killed to cover up the issue,” she said.
The accusations came a day after the central government gave an affidavit in court that it had information of over Rs 72,000 crore deposited in a German bank in the name of a middleman. “If the BSP comes to power at the Centre, it will bring back the unaccounted money," Mayawati told the 15,000-strong crowd at Ramlila Maidan.
