A speeding bus crushed three pedestrians to death near Meerut crossing in Ghaziabad on Monday. The accident also left three persons critically injured, the police said.

Eyewitnesses said the driver of the bus, chartered to ply between Meerut and Delhi, lost control while trying to overtake other buses on NH 8 around 9am. Immediately after the incident, the driver and the conductor fled the accident scene.
Superintendent of police AK Vijeta said that two victims died on the spot near the new bus stand and the third succumbed to his injuries at MMG hospital. The deceased were identified as Prashant Kumar, Mohammed Mobin and Sandeep.
