A Ukrainian national was killed and three other passengers were injured when a bus hit them at the packed departure terminal.

The victims, who were booked on a Moscow-bound flight of Indian, were taking out luggage from an inter-terminal transfer coach when the bus carrying crew members of Lufthansa Airlines hit them right outside Gate no 3 of Terminal 2 around 12.50 am, police said.

The bus carrying the cabin crew should not have been there in the first place had the plans to ban buses carrying airline crew, airport staff and DTC buses from the departure terminal been implemented. While DTC buses are already off the departure drop-off area, buses ferrying airline cabin crew have not been shifted to arrival area downstairs as elevators are yet to come up there.

Private airport operator Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd. said it would take three more months for a special parking area and bigger elevators to come up. "How would the crew come up to the departure area without elevators?" a DIAL official said.
