The robbers, however, decamped with his Swift car, Rs. 17,000 in cash and other belongings, police said.
Surender Kumar, a resident of Prem Nagar, runs an artificial jewellery shop in Sadar Bazar and had gone to a temple in Rohini Sector 3 area for evening prayers when he was abducted.
"They pushed Kumar to the rear seat of his car and one of them took charge of the vehicle. They drove for three hours and robbed him of his belongings and cash on gunpoint," said a police officer.
Kumar managed to escape after the car's right wheel was stuck in a pit.
The police have registered a case. They are also questioning some criminals active in Rohini area.
