So now while you wait for your train, you can pamper your taste buds with the famous paranthas of Chandni Chowk, aloo tikki of west Delhi, and malai kulfi of north Delhi.
The fully air-conditioned restaurant will come up at platform number one and will be thrown open to general public by December-end.
“A multi-cuisine restaurant on the lines of Delhi Haat, where you get all famous, authentic delicacies, will be thrown open by December-end,” said a senior railway official.
The 80-seater restaurant will serve famous delicacies of the Capital to give passengers an authentic taste of Delhi.
Coming up on around 3,000 square feet area on platform number one, the eatery will have eight different food stalls operated by individual vendors.
But seating in the restaurant won’t be free. To relish your favorite meal in the air-conditioned restaurant, you have to pay a seating charge of R20. “To avoid overcrowding in the restaurant, we’ll be charging a nominal seating fee of R20 per person on the bill. This will also help us in maintaining the restaurant as there won’t be any unnecessary footfalls,” the officer added.
The restaurant will be different from the Comesome restaurants currently operating at Old Delhi and Hazrat Nizzamudin railways stations.
The billing at the restaurant will be done by railways, who will also share profits with vendors.
The eatery will not be attached with Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), and will work on a public private partnership model.
