Cabinet meet ends, anti-rape law not discussed

The Union cabinet met today but did not discuss new anti-rape law over disagrement between ministries on lowering the age of consent and use of the word rape, reports said.

The Union cabinet met on Thursday but did not discuss new anti-rape law over disagrement between ministries on lowering the age of consent and use of the word rape, reports said.

According to reports, the home ministry suggested that the age of consent be lowered from 18 to 16 years but there was no consensus.

There was no consensus in cabinet on adding voyeurism under sexual abuse, reports said.
