Cabinet to take up lottery issue

The Cabinet on Thursday is expected to consider a proposal of the Home Ministry to withdraw the Lotteries Prohibition Bill, 1999, which was introduced in the Rajya Sabha by the then NDA government in 1999 but never passed by Parliament.

The Cabinet on Thursday is expected to consider a proposal of the Home Ministry to withdraw the Lotteries Prohibition Bill, 1999, which was introduced in the Rajya Sabha by the then NDA government in 1999 but never passed by Parliament.

The Bill, which announced lottery business an illegal activity, had proposed an imprisonment of up to two years and fine or both against directors of the companies in the lottery business.
