Singh appeared as a witness before the committee where senior Army officers made presentation on management of rations in the Army.

The presentation and the subsequent recording of evidence went for nearly two hours.

The members of the committee led by senior leader BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi made some suggestions on improving the supply of dry rations to soldiers.

Emerging from the meeting, the Army chief said that the members' suggestions would be taken into account and a report on the issue would be presented to the committee within six months.

"We had a good meeting. The MPs made some good suggestions. We have taken them in account," the Army chief said.

IAF chief P V Naik and Vice Chief of Navy D K Deewan are also expected to appear before the PAC in connection with the irregularities in the canteen stores supplies.

The PAC had called the chiefs of the three defence services for a hearing after a CAG report pointed out irregularities in the supply chain management of rations by Canteen Stores Department (CSD).
