CBI awaits nod to probe Solan land scam
The CBI is still awaiting permission to probe Solan land case, an off-shoot of the cash-at-door scandal of Punjab & Haryana High Court of 2008.
The CBI is still awaiting permission to probe Solan land case, an off-shoot of the cash-at-door scandal of Punjab & Haryana High Court of 2008. The CBI had approached government to seek permission in September for the third time.

In August 2008, R15 lakh were delivered at the official residence of Justice Nirmaljit Kaur of Punjab & Haryana HC in Chandigarh. The CBI alleged the money was meant for Justice Nirmal Yadav and was delivered by mistake to Justice Kaur due to similarities in their names.
The money was allegedly sent by the then Haryana additional advocate general Sanjiv Bansal.
The CBI found that Justice Yadav had asked for money to make payment for land deal in Solan. The government is treating the cash-at-door and Solan land deal as two separate cases.
In the cash-at-door case, after completion of probe the CBI had sought sanction to prosecute Justice Yadav, which was denied by the then CJI KG Balakrishnan. The agency then filed a closure report in the trial court, which refused to accept it.
Left with no option, the CBI sought sanction in the cash-at-door case as well as permission to probe Solan case. In both cases, it is awaiting the response of government.
