CBI files chargesheet against police officials

The chargesheet against both the officials -- ACP Rakesh Kumar Bansal and sub-inspector Jagdish Kumar work under Anti Extortion Cell of Crime Branch -- was filed under different sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, in the court of Special Judge, Patiala House Court.

The case was registered on the complaint alleging that the accused were demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from the complainant in order to hush up the matter and for releasing household jewellery of the complainant, the press release by CBI said.

Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused sub-inspector while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh for himself and for other accused (ACP) from the complainant, it said.
