CBI raids AIIMS for purchase irregularities

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the country's premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday in connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of security equipment. HT reports.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the country's premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday in connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of security equipment.

The raid was conducted at the residence and office of deputy chief security officer at the institute.

The AIIMS authorities confirmed the raid but said that the institute had no direct connection with it since the hospital security had been mostly outsourced to a private company.

"Though AIIMS has nothing to do with the allegations directly, it will extend full cooperation to the investigating agency in the matter," a senior official at the hospital said.

The investigating agency also conducted a raid at a private security company in connection with the case.
