Official sources said a case has been registered against Sunil Misra, Chief Personnel Officer, North-Western Railway, Jaipur and his wife Anoop Misra under different Sections of IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Misra is a 1980 batch Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) officer.

CBI has alleged that during the period from January 12, 1982 till December 3, 2009, the public servant while working in different capacities, viz, Assistant Personnel Officer, Divisional Personal Officer, Sr DPO/Dy CPO and Chief Personnel Officer in the Ministry of Railways, acquired assets worth about Rs 3.45 crore against his likely savings of Rs 75 lakh.

"It is alleged that he has been found in possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 2,69,74,210 to his known sources of income, for which he could not satisfactorily account for and his wife abetted the offence by intentionally aiding the acquisition of disproportionate assets," CBI spokesperson said in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The agency also claimed to have unearthed both movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees acquired by him in his own name or in the name of his family members during the period.
