The CBI has written to the OC demanding names of every individual/ group/organisation who were given complimentary passes of R20,000 denomination for the closing ceremony. The OC had issued approximately 15,000 complimentary tickets of R20,000 denomination for the closing ceremony.

The CBI, sources said, had received specific complaints that many tickets bought by spectators had identical numbers as those on the complimentary tickets that were issued. “The CBI is looking into this aspect to see if this was intentional,” said an official close to the probe.

“The CBI in its letter to the OC has attached photocopies of six such complimentary tickets that it has received from complainants,” said a source.
