The Group of Ministers on Bhopal, which met twice on Saturday, reportedly agreed with Attorney General GE Vahanvati’s view that a curative petition should be filed against the 1996 Supreme Court verdict diluting the charges.

Saturday also saw the BJP tear into the Congress on the strength of former Madhya Pradesh CM Arjun Singh’s disclosure that he’d had on “locus standi” on Anderson’s release.

HT was the first to report on Friday the Congress leader’s response to charges that he’d got Anderson off the hook.

“The Congress should apologise. It is patently clear safe passage was given to Anderson by the then Congress-led central government,” the BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
