"It is my endeavour to improve police infrastructure in the country. The state and Central governments must work together to improve the functioning of the police administration. We must work together for the better policing," Chidambaram said inaugurating a private forensic science laboratory in New Delhi.

Congratulating the promoters for setting a milestone in setting up Truth Labs, he said "...it is important that the private sector service provider will have to win the confidence of its constituency (people)."

He said it is like any other pathological laboratory or laboratories. "Shopian case illustrates what a laboratory can purportedly do but ultimately it is a gross miscarriage of justice."

Founded by Dr Gandhi P C Kaza, former director of Andhra Pradesh Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Truth Labs is the country's first private lab which provides DNA profiling, polygraph or lie detector tests and computer analysis among others.
