The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributed the drop in temperature to clear skies over the capital.

"Skies will remain clear in the capital with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 21 degrees," an IMD official said.

Delhi Monday recorded a minimum of 7.5 degrees and the maximum settled at 20.1 degrees.

The coldest day of the season so far was Jan 4 with a minimum temperature of 3.7 degrees.
