The initiatives include helpline number 22185555 for commuters in distress, intensified patrolling on platforms and other vital areas, enhanced CCTV surveillance, special operations to evict and penalise male passengers who enter the ladies coaches, increased presence of male and female CISF personnel in uniform and plainclothes, dedicated CISF women teams for ladies coaches, special female QRT squads at important stations of the Metro and joint operations by the CISF, Delhi Metro Rail Police and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

In a session with the students of Miranda College of Delhi University, the CISF on Wednesday provided all details about safety and security of women commuters in Delhi Metro.

“These initiatives — many taken after the gang rape on a bus last month — have made Delhi Metro a safe mode of public transport,” said a CISF officer. HTC
