Submitting pictorial evidence to Khanna, it has said that its members found, during a site visit on October 2, that waste was being dumped in the area. "The same situation was evident at a nearby lake—managed by DDA —called Jahangirpuri Lake," said Manoj Mishra of YJA.

"The site is under threat of further degradation since DMRC under its phase III expansion is building a line and a depot at Mukandpur. DMRC must keep the ecological importance of this site in mind as they go ahead with their plan ," the letter reads.

YJA has requested Khanna to get the conservation importance of Jahangirpuri marshes investigated by scientific experts and take action to safeguard them.
