"The incident occurred on Monday evening at the Kasabpura area in Sadar Bazar. Initially, it was between two families, whose children had eloped on Sunday night," said a senior police officer.

Police said the minor verbal spat between the two families turned into a full-fledged clash in a mere 30 minutes as the group on either side swelled and stone-pelting commenced.

"The two groups hurled stones and also burled a few shops in the area. A few persons got injured. We had to resort to lathicharge and were able to diffuse the situation in about half an hour," the officer added.
