Standing in long immigration queues at US airports may soon be a thing of the past if you are transiting through Abu Dhabi.

The US department of homeland security plans to open a customs and border protection checkpoint at Abu Dhabi international airport. Under US customs pre-clearance facility, passengers flying to America can be treated as domestic passengers when they arrive at American customs and avoid the long queues and waiting lines at US airports.
So, a passenger flying from Varanasi to New York via Abu Dhabi can do customs clearance while in transit in Abu Dhabi.
The pre-clearance facility is good news for Jet Airways which has an ambitious plan to connect 23 Indian cities to Abu Dhabi. The Naresh Goyal-owned airline plans to use Abu Dhabi as a hub for launching flights to North America.
