CM announces more buses for DTC fleet

Soon, more low-floor AC and non-AC buses will be added to the DTC's fleet to meet the demand, said Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit while laying the foundation stone for the revamp work of Mehruli bus terminal on Friday.

Mehrauli Terminal had been functional since 1984 over a two-acre DDA land. However, the terminal had not seen much repair work over the years and its condition had deteriorated with time.

"It was decided to renovate it to make it a modern and spacious terminal to cater to the needs of the local people. It took time to initiate the renovation work as permission from department of Archaeology and National Monument Authority was necessary," said a senior government official.
Meanwhile, the department moved a proposal to merge Mehrauli terminal with Lado Sarai terminal.

"Our government has been striving to provide world-class infrastructure in the city. The transport scenario has undergone a sea change with introduction of Delhi Metro services, AC and non-AC low-floor buses, number of flyovers, underpasses and FOBs. It has ensured hassle-free and fast movement of traffic," Dikshit said.
