With regular power cuts being carried out in the city by power distribution companies, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has directed the discoms to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

“Our government will not allow the discoms to leave the consumers in the lurch by carrying out power cuts keeping the extreme weather conditions in mind,” said Dikshit.

Dikshit added that power cuts seem to be unjustified as the peak demand is a moderate 3,500 MW.

According to officials, the city is not facing any shortage and Dikshit has asked the discoms to arrange power in order to ensure round-the-clock supply.

Dikshit has also directed the power department to closely monitor the situation and bring it to the notice of the chief secretary and the chief minister in case power cuts continue in the city.
