A detailed report by the city’s transport department has been submitted to the Delhi government for approval.

Pod cabs are small electric cars that run on a dedicated track, seating two to 10 persons. The personal rapid transit system was introduced in 1975 in Morgantown in West Virginia, US and is popular in various parts of the world. It has recently been introduced at London’s Heathrow Airport and trials are on in Masdar City in Abu Dhabi.

Closer home, construction is in full swing in Amritsar to connect the Golden Temple with the city bus stand by pod cabs and the Haryana government is doing a feasibility study for Gurgaon.

Delhi’s transport department is likely to start a feasibility study for Dwarka, Karol Bagh, Delhi University and east Delhi areas.
