The Andhra Pradesh assembly elections were held along with the Lok Sabha elections last time. Andhra’s share in the Lok Sabha elections had played a major role in helping the Congress form a government at the Centre.
Almost every prominent leader from the two states including Union ministers have been included either in the executive committees or in the manifesto or in the election committees.
Assam has also been given an election campaign committee, headed by senior leader Anwara Taimur. Union Ministers S. Jaipal Reddy, Renuka Choudhary, Panabaka Lakshmi, Dasari Narayana Rao, MP V. Arun Kumar and senior party leader N. Janardhana Reddy are some of the known faces appointed as permanent invitees to the committee.
Key senior leaders appointed to the Andhra Pradesh committee included state ministers N Raghuveera Reddy, Lakshmi Devi and Chenga Reddy and senior party leader M. Hanumantha Rao. Senior leaders G Venkata Swamy, T Subba Rami Reddy and V Hanumantha Rao are among the 30 who have been appointed as permanent invitees to the panel.
For Assam, Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneshwar Kalita would be the president of the state Congress Committee. Kalita also chairs the manifesto committee, which includes Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and other senior leaders.
The election committee includes Union Minister Santosh Mohan Dev and BK Handique.
