Among the leaders heckled was All India Youth Congress General Secretary Usha Naidu.

On Monday, some armed people, allegedly shouting Trinamool slogans, blocked the motorcade and asked whether the Congress had taken TMC’s Minister of State for Shipping Shishir Adhikary’s permission before entering the area.

“Our programme was scheduled and the district administration was informed about it, but they didn’t take any security measure to avoid such incident,” Naidu said on Monday.

Krishnendu Das, a district Trinamool leader, however, said, “We did not attack the Congress leaders. The arrested persons are not our men. They are vagabonds.”

The West Bengal Congress on Tuesday submitted a report to party general secretary Rahul Gandhi on the incident.

West Bengal Congress chief Manas Bhuiyan warned the Trinamool that the incident could cast a shadow on relations between the parties.
