The Special Staff of South Delhi Police claimed to have nabbed a gang who not only allegedly conned people but also snatched items from them.

The police have arrested Narad Mehto (25), the alleged gang leader, and his accomplice Ajay Kumar (19).
Modus Operandi:
During their interrogation, the police said it was established that Mehto and his associates mainly operated in Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida.
“They targeted people who looked like labourers or villagers and came to banks to deposit money. They would tell their potential victims about money abandoned on the roadside that they (the accused) had found and wanted to deposit in the bank. They would claim they do not have any account, so they would request the victim to deposit the money in his account,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal.
He added that when the victim would agree to do so, they would ask the person to give some money or mobile phones as security. As soon as they would lay their hands on the money or a mobile phone, they would hand over a bundle of papers cut in shape of currency notes wrapped in a piece of cloth and run away.
