Three Pakistan terrorists detained at the centre had escaped recently.

Constable Kursom Sangma, 32, from West Garo Hills in Meghalaya, was found hanging behind the mess of his battalion based in Vikaspuri by his colleagues around 6.50 a.m.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said, “Sangma hanged himself in the early hours of Wednesday. The reason for which he took the extreme step could not be ascertained. He did not leave a suicide note.”

Aggarwal said Sangma was earlier deployed at the Lampur detention centre where three Pakistani terrorists, who were to be deported, escaped from the custody.

Sangma was working at the holding centre when the terrorists escaped from the facility, police said.

Aggarwal added that he was later shifted to its arms repository unit.

The police are not aware if he was facing any kind of disciplinary action in connection with the escape of the terrorists.
