Investigators are yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
Ashok Kumar, the prime suspect, has been missing since the incident happened on Monday afternoon.Investigators had picked-up Kumar’s two brothers — Babloo and Umesh — for questioning on Monday.
Bodies of the victims — Suraj, 7, and Gopal, 5, were found hidden under the bed of Kumar by their sister Sangeeta.
According to the police, Kumar had covered the bodies with clothes after strangling the victims to death. Meenu Choudhary, deputy commissioner of police (northwest), confirmed that they had sent a team to Bihta to trace Kumar and nab him as soon as possible.
“We have some leads in the case and are working on them. The exact motive behind the killing can be ascertained only after we interrogate Kumar who for now is the prime suspect,” said Choudhary.
Meanwhile, Raja Ram, father of the victims, said that he had provided the investigators with two photographs of Kumar. “After killing my sons, Kumar took all the documents pertaining to his identification. His photographs will help police trace him,” Raja Ram said.
Further investigations are on in the matter.
