Additional sessions judge Surinder S. Rathi sent his order’s copy to the commissioner of police and the special commissioner of police (vigilance) for an inquiry into the conduct of the three officers. It sought an action-taken report within a week and the final report within a week of the completion of the inquiry.

Terming the conduct of ACP Raja Ram Yadav of Paharganj police station, SHO Jagbir Singh and sub-inspector Prakash Roy of DBG Road police station as “mischievous”, Rathi also faulted the then Central district DCP for giving them a free run.
