Court staff booked for forging orders

Several months after they forged close to five dozen orders under his hand and seal, a criminal case has been registered against two Saket District Court employees — one a reader to a Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) and the other an assistant Ahlmad (clerk), following the Magistrate's own complaint to the court's vigilance branch.

"The accused, identified as Sunil Kumar Saini, the reader, and Tarun Kumar, the assistant clerk, are alleged to have forged as many as 59 orders in collusion to help the owners of vehicles travelling without proper permits in the areas of Kalkaji and Sarita Vihar," said a senior police officer.

According to police, Saini and Kumar were attached to the court of the MM (traffic) Dinesh Kumar who, police said, reported to have held the position between April and November, 2011. According to the complaint, MM Dinesh Kumar had been intimated about his staff's transgression by an advocate practising in the same court on November 19, 2011 after which he conducted a preliminary enquiry into the matter.

"When the record of the disposal of the challans was called and perused, it revealed that no such order had been passed by the court in any of the challans," said an officer, quoting the complaint.

After the handwriting on the forged papers matched with the writing of Saini and Kumar, a case of forgery, cheating and criminal breach of trust was registered against them at the Saket police station.
