Court summons Arvind Kejriwal in defamation case

A city court has summoned Aam Admi party leader Arvind Kejriwal in a defamation case filed by advocate Amit Sibal.

A city court has summoned Aam Admi party leader Arvind Kejriwal in a defamation case filed by advocate Amit Sibal.

The petitioner, son of Union minister for law and justice and telecommunications Kapil Sibal, has sought criminal prosecution of Kejriwal and his party members for tarnishing his image and reputation by making false statements.

In a press conference on May 15, Kejriwal had claimed the government was favouring telecom company Vodafone since Amit was representing the company. Benefits were being given to the company through Amit in exchange of bribe, Kejriwal had alleged.Metropolitan magistrate Ashok Kumar has also issued summons to advocate Prashant Bhushan and AAP activists Shazia Ilmi and Manish Sisodia.
