The New Year is set to bring in more traffic woes in the already congested Connaught Place area.

To start with, only half the width of the outer circle will be available for vehicular movement. And, there would absolutely be no parking available in middle and outer circle.
“Apart from these changes, only one lane will be available for movement in the middle circle. The other major changes include closure of Panchkuian road, Minto Road and Barakhamba Road,” said a senior police official.
Starting from January 1, traffic police have come up with diversions and ‘no entry’ on several roads in the CP area, thanks to redevelopment and façade restoration work being carried out by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), constructions of subways on outer circle and other improvements.
The official agreed people would face problems but said it was necessary for asset creation.
“We are hopeful that people will understand the new plan in some time, till then, we can anticipate some problems.”
The new traffic circulation pattern would be in place for as many as 80 days in the first place, officials said.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) S N Shrivastava said, “We have issued advisory in almost all newspapers and will repeat it on January 1. We would also explore other means, including FM Radio channels, if need be, to educate people about the changes.”
Stating that there would be certain changes in bus routes using the outer circles, the police have asked people to use more and more public transport to avoid problems.
