Damages for crime victims

Victims of crimes will now be compensated by the government. The Delhi cabinet on Monday approved the proposal to financially compensate the victims of rape, child abuse, acid attack, kidnapping and human trafficking.

Victims of crimes will now be compensated by the government. The Delhi cabinet on Monday approved the proposal to financially compensate the victims of rape, child abuse, acid attack, kidnapping and human trafficking.

While the victim of rape will get a maximum compensation of Rs. 3 lakh and a minimum compensation of Rs. 2 lakh within 60 days of the incident, if the face of the victim of acid attack gets disfigured the government will pay compensation between Rs. 2-3 lakh.

Implementing the Centre's Victim Compensation Scheme, the Delhi government has allotted of Rs. 15 crore for the purpose.
