Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Shinde said the central government had left it to the Jammu and Kashmir government to take suitable steps upon Malik's return from Pakistan and he had been placed under house arrest.

Asked if the government will revoke Malik's passport or decide against renewing it, Shinde only said appropriate action will be taken.
"We have taken note of it (his sharing dias with Saeed). At appropriate time, action will be taken," he said.
