Delhi: 21-yr-old ‘depressed’ girl kills self

Two persons, including a 21-year-old student, allegedly committed suicide because of depression in the past 24 hours in the Capital, police said on Sunday. HT reports.

Two persons, including a 21-year-old student, allegedly committed suicide because of depression in the past 24 hours in the Capital, police said on Sunday.

The first incident was reported from east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar. A young woman studying to become a chartered accountant was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room at a paying guest (PG) accommodation on Sunday morning.

A suicide note found on the woman said she was depressed because she had failed in her examination.

Upma Singh, a native of Chapra district in Bihar, hanged herself using her dupatta.

She was found hanging by girls living in a room adjacent to her room, a police officer said.

The girls immediately raised an alarm and informed their landlady who in turn made a call to the police.

In the second incident, a 40-year-old a taxi driver committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Swaroop Nagar in northwest Delhi.

The driver, Harsh Rawat, was found hanging by his wife on Saturday evening. The police learnt about the incident when his wife called the police.
