To chalk out its strategy for the coming elections and to sort out its differences, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Jai Prakash Aggarwal on Tuesday called a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and her cabinet colleagues.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Dikshit said that rising food prices was a major concern and her government was making all efforts to ensure that prices of essential commodities remained in control.

She said the increasing prices of steel, fuel and cement was responsible for the growing inflation rate. "Rising prices are a global issue and efforts are being taken to ensure food items at affordable rates," said Dikshit.

Besides the growing prices of essential commodities, the meeting also discussed issues like regularization of unauthorized colonies, delay in voter-cards preparation, poor situation in hospitals and the BSP's bid to make its electoral foray in Delhi.

Talking to reporters, DPCC president said, "The progress report of the government was evaluated today and the office bearers were happy with its work. The areas where gaps exist are being filled in."

Aggarwal said that another meeting would be convened soon with party MPs, MLAs and municipal councilors to chalk out the party's election strategy.

"We will work together to ensure Congress victory. There are no differences within the party," asserted Dikshit after the meeting.

On soaring prices of essential commodities Dikshit said, "The prices are well under control as far as basic needs of a common man are concerned."
