While the MCD is still in the process of purchasing anti-larvicides to control the spread of vector-borne diseases, the two cases, admitted in AIIMS, tested positive for the disease on Tuesday, suggesting that dengue may have hit the Capital this year way earlier than expected.
Last year, the first dengue case was reported in June, and 6,229 people had contracted the disease, which led to eight deaths.
“Whether they contracted the disease in Delhi or somewhere else is yet to be ascertained,” said an MCD official. “It’s an unusual development. Right now we can’t give out the exact cause,” the official added.
