Delhi gets Rs 3,472 cr for Games

It’s raining funds for Delhi courtesy the Commonwealth Games. The Capital, which will host the sporting extravaganza that begins in October 2010, got Rs 3,472 crore in the budget to develop infrastructure.

The Capital, which will host the sporting extravaganza that begins in October 2010, got Rs 3,472 crore in the budget to develop infrastructure.

The funds will be distributed among the Delhi government, the Union sports and urban development ministries and the Delhi Police.

The money will be utilised to complete Metro lines in south and east Delhi. More low-floor buses will be acquired, 17 flyovers put in place and construction at the Games venues completed.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said Delhi needs even more funds for the Games.
