'Delhi govt delayed authorisation of colonies'

The Delhi government's demand for removal of the conditions laid down in the layout plan of unauthorised colonies for regularising them has been condemned by the MCD. Yogender Chandolia, chairman of the Standing Committee, said that the demand is politically motivated in view of the upcoming municipal elections.

The Delhi government's demand for removal of the conditions laid down in the layout plan of unauthorised colonies for regularising them has been condemned by the MCD. Yogender Chandolia, chairman of the Standing Committee, said that the demand is politically motivated in view of the upcoming municipal elections.

"Why could they not make the demand to the Centre in the last five years? The MCD had been demanding the hastening of regularisation work for the last five years which fell on empty ears. Unauthorised colonies should be regularised in their present form so that developmental works can take place there," said Chandolia.
