Delhi, Haryana sign transport agreement

Haryana and Delhi ink the Reciprocal Common Transport Agreement, which would facilitate the former to operate over 1.64 lakh kilometres daily in the territory of Delhi.

Haryana and Delhi on Thursday inked the Reciprocal Common Transport Agreement, which would facilitate the former to operate over 1.64 lakh kilometres daily in the territory of Delhi. The Delhi government will be able to operate over 1.95 lakh kms daily in Haryana.

Stating this here, Transport Minister Mange Ram Gupta said the agreement would provide convenient transport facilities to people of both the states because of a substantial increase in demand for transport operations.

The Union Ministry of Urban Development has been stressing the NCR states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to conclude the agreements so that the draft Reciprocal Common Transport Agreement for the operation of contract carriages, goods carriages and stage carriages could be finalised.

The Transport Minister said according to the old agreement, Haryana was operating 64,668 kms daily in the territory of Delhi state and likewise Delhi state was operating 63,935 kms daily in Haryana.
