Delhi high court judge resigns

Justice Neeraj Kishan Kaul of the Delhi High Court has resigned. The decision has surprised many as 46-year-old Kaul was appointed an additional judge of the court only four months ago on April 15, 2009, reports HT Correspondent.

Justice Neeraj Kishan Kaul of the Delhi High Court has resigned.

The decision has surprised many as 46-year-old Kaul was appointed an additional judge of the court only four months ago on April 15, 2009.

According to official sources, the resignation letter dated August 27, 2009 cited “personal reasons” as the reason for Kaul’s resignation.

Before becoming a judge, Kaul, who obtained his LLM from Cambridge University, was practising in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court as a senior advocate.

Kaul’s elder brother Sanjay Kishan Kaul is also a judge in the Delhi High Court.

Born on November 23, 1963, Kaul studied in Modern School, Delhi.

He graduated in B.A.(Arts) from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi in 1984.

He was appointed as Standing Counsel for the Central Government in Delhi High Court in 1998.
