Delhi hit-and-run: Man dies after being run over by SUV, driver arrested
A 50-year-old man was killed after being hit by an SUV in GTB Enclave area of northeast Delhi, following which the driver was arrested on Friday, police said.
A 50-year-old man was killed after being hit by an SUV in GTB Enclave area of northeast Delhi, following which the driver was arrested on Friday, police said.
Mohammad Yasin, a rickshaw puller, was walking to his home in GTB Enclave when he was hit by the SUV from behind around 11.30pm on Thursday, a police officer said.
As the victim lay bleeding on the road, the driver of the vehicle sped away without stopping to help him, the officer said.
Locals rushed to the spot and called the police. A PCR van reached the accident spot and took the victim to hospital where he died during treatment, he said.
The accused driver, Gaurav Gupta, was arrested and a case under section 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of IPC was registered against him at GTB Enclave Police Station, the officer said.
