The third-year Venkateswara College student was allegedly killed by her parents Abhishek Seth, who was not from her caste.

Police officials too, maintain that they are investigating the case from all possible angles. “We are sparing no efforts. But the identity of the cremated body can only be ascertained after an expert’s report,” said Suman Goyal, DCP (south-west)

A police team which left for Alwar early Thursday morning has taken along Bhawna’s parents to recreate the chain of incidents that led to her death and to question eyewitnesses, if any.

Bhawna married 24-year-old Abhishek Seth, 24, a contractual assistant programmer at Rashtrapati Bhawan, on November 12. The two had been going steady for two years and had eloped after Bhawna’s parents found a match for her and were planning her engagement against her wish.

On the other hand, Abhishek’s family members have raised questions on the true identity of the cremated body. “We have no dead body and no proof of whether it was Bhawna’s body. We seek a thorough investigation in the case,” said Bharti Seth, Abhishek’s mother.

Sources have also revealed that Bhawna’s uncle Lakhan had allegedly threatened Abhishek that he will kill him if he didn’t annul their marriage. The police are likely to interrogate him too. “Lakhan had called Abhishek on November 15 and threatened to kill him if he didn’t annul their wedding. Soon after, Bhawna’s parents killed her,” Bharti added.

The Yadavs had reportedly gone to Alwar in a taxi and taken Bhawna’s body with them. They told their neighbours Bhawna had been bitten by a snake and that they were taking her to an Ayurvedic practioner in their native village. But on reaching to Alwar, they claimed that Bhawna died during the journey and cremated her.

Bhawna’s parents, Jagmohan and Savitri Yadav, have confessed of having strangled her on November 15 in a fit of rage.
