“He was rushed to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital where he was declared dead. The bus driver, Raju, was arrested for death due to negligent driving,” said additional CP (west) V Renganathan.
When the collision took place, the pole rammed into Jaskiran’s neck. Students who were in the bus said they had asked the driver to stop the vehicle after the accident, but he kept driving.
“There was a lot of noise in the bus and we couldn’t respond initially,” admitted Suresh, the bus conductor. “But as soon as we realised what had happened, we rushed the boy to hospital.”
According to a clarification issued by the school administration, the bus was hired by the school from a private contractor.
