“One of the primary requirement of judicial administration in which people can have unqualified faith is that the probity of judges should be beyond reproach,” said DHCBA president KC Miittal. He stressed that the issue before the high court was “of great importance”.
At present, the Delhi High Court is hearing an appeal filed by the Supreme Court registry against a Central Information Commission order which asked the Chief Justice of India for information, in his possession, on the number of judges who have declared their assets.
The DHCBA is of the view that the judges should set an example of fair conduct by declaring their assets and those of their families voluntarily. A resolution passed by the DHCBA on January 23 said certain developments like the Ghaziabad Provident Fund scam involving some judges had shaken the common man’s faith in the judiciary.
