A 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for stalking women on social media and sending obscene messages to them.
The accused, Ajay Pathak, who works as a labourer supervisor in Gurgaon, has allegedly confessed to having stalked at least 15 women over the past few months. Police said Pathak used the video call facility and showed his nude videos to women.
Police recovered two mobile phones and 4 SIM cards from the accused. Police arrested Pathak after a woman approached them on Monday afternoon alleging that she had been receiving obscene messages and calls on her phone.
DCP (west) Vijay Kumar said during investigation police found that calls were made from Gurgaon, following which they took help of technical surveillance and traced the caller. Pathak, who had studied up to Class 12, was arrested from his house.
During interrogation, Pathak confessed that in December he had found a cell phone on the road. He threw the cell phone but used its SIM card to create a Whatsapp account. Pathak told police he called random numbers to find women users.
An investigating officer said that once Pathak found a woman user, he would start sending her messages on WhatsApp. “He video-called the women and showed his private parts. He would continue to flash till he was blocked,” said a police officer.
