Delhi Police arrests woman shoplifter

The police arrested Sharma on Wednesday allegedly after she shoplifted a DVD player from an electronics store. The police, with the help of CCTV footage arrested her, while she shoplifted a DVD player from a store in Sarojini Nagar in south Delhi.

This is not the first time Sharma has been caught. The police had earlier in September nabbed her forstealing people’s bags. Last time around also it was CCTV footage that helped the police arrest her.

How was she nabbed

Allegedly involved in a series of shop lifting cases, Sharma was arrested in south Delhi. “She targeted a shop for the second time in a fortnight,” HGS Dhaliwal, DCP (south).

Sharma was arrested from her Daryaganj residence after she left a small purse with some money and slip while escaping from a Sarojini Nagar shop four days back. The slip had details of another woman.

She was caught on CCTV while stealing a DVD player on December 29, 2010, and on January 15, she again went to the same shop where she was recognised.

“The shopkeeper and others chased her but she escaped, leaving behind a purse with some money and a small slip with the name, address and mobile number of a woman,” added Dhaliwal.
