Delhi: Zambian arrested with drugs

Just before he was about to board a flight to Dubai, a Zambian air traveller was today arrested at the international airport in the national capital for allegedly trying to smuggle out drugs worth Rs one crore.

A Zambian air traveller was arrested on Saturday at the international airport in the national capital for allegedly trying to smuggle out drugs worth Rs one crore.

The incident happened last night when a CISF check squad suspected the movement of the Zambian identified as Phiri Eliajah (29) at the terminal 3 of the IGIA.

He was arrested just before he was about to board a flight to Dubai.

During checking, the security officials recovered 10-kg of narcotic drug called Methaqualon from his baggage.

Eliajah had arrived in Indian on July 2 and was on a tourist visa.

The estimated value of the drug is about Rs one crore in the black market.

The passenger was handed over to the Customs officials for further legal action, a CISF official said.
