“We heard about the blast and thought there might be shortage of blood so we lost no time in reaching Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. But, when we approached the blood bank we were told that many people had already donated blood so there was no shortage. We were quite surprised but were glad to know that people are coming from every nook and cranny of the city to help,” said Sureev Singh, a Delhi University student.

The authorities at RML Hospital said the response from people was better compared to any average day.

“We are happy that people are willing to come forward and as of now there is no shortage of blood,” said a senior doctor at the hospital who did not wish to be named.

Several NGOs had also organised blood donation camps to ensure there was regular supply of blood. “We had gathered many volunteers who were willing to donate blood but there was ample supply at the hospital. We have told the authorities that we will be available if any need arises,” said Dr Sudershan Verma, member of Bharat Raksha Manch, an NGO.
